University Program - Tentative Schedule.
Sunday
Registration and orientation to the Acadia University campus.
Day
1: Setting the stage
• Introduction to the week with a 5-minute presentation by
each group on their project. A discussion of the student-teacher
relationship for the week.
• ThinkPad care-and-feeding session and set up user accounts,
with the student assisting the teacher where necessary.
• Develop electronic student and faculty peer-support groups
and network locations for group resources.
• General introduction to the technology of education - hardware,
software and the Internet. (Teachers and Students will concentrate
on different aspects of these throughout the next 4 days)
• Introduction to presentation software as a hypermedia-authoring
environment with hands-on exercises.
• Team building exercise for each group.
Day
2: Develop the student's skill as a technology assistant while
developing the awareness of teachers to the possibilities
of computer-enhanced teaching and learning.
• Students will be provided with a user support session dealing
with:
- Trouble shooting
problems in the classroom
- The technical
aspects of gathering, storing and taking full advantage of
digital resources.
- Scanners, digital
and video cameras and other peripherals.
• Students will set up the equipment necessary for the afternoon
session.
• Teachers will discuss the why, what and how of gathering
digital resources.
• Students and teachers evolve their project plan and assess
the resources needed.
• Students teach the teachers how to use scanners and digital
cameras.
Day
3: Pedagogy and project work.
• Teachers will participate in a workshop with the School
of Education. Discussions on the use of computers for communication,
collaboration, and presentation.
• Teachers develop strategies for effective technology use,
learning outcomes and assessment for their own classroom.
Students will get tips on how to effectively teach software
applications.
• Students will learn about digital video capture.
• After a brief introduction to video editing, teacher/student
teams develop a short video for their project.
Day
4: The Internet and project work.
• Power searching, Webquests, and copyright.
• Workshops on "Publishing" your work and effective presentation
skills.
Day
5: Complete the project and present to the group.
• Teachers present the project and students present an aspect
of the technology used in the development process.

participants will be given passes to the Acadia University
Athletic Facilities with a variety of extra curricular activities
being planned throughout the week.
