AITT Profile

The Acadia Institute for Teaching and Technology (AITT) is the research and development centre that leads innovation in teaching with technology at Acadia University. The AITT was created to provide leadership and training in applying technology effectively to learning environments at Acadia University, where all students and faculty have laptop computers in a unique mobile-computing environment.

Integrating technology to effectively enhance education is the primary focus of AITT, and today, the AITT is responsible for providing training not only to Acadia faculty, but also to all of Nova Scotia's public school teachers. The AITT also runs training programs and provides consulting services to educational institutions throughout Canada.

Workshops at the AITT involve significant hands-on time in order to become familiar and comfortable with technology tools, with interactive multi-disciplinary project-based learning providing students with opportunities to interact with each other and with the content in creative ways. AITT workshops involve numerous student assistants to ensure that technical assistance is readily at hand.
