What are
the goals of the Clarica Scholars Program?
The goal of the Clarica Scholars Program is to enhance the secondary
school environment in Canada by enabling teachers and students
to better utilize technology for learning.
Is my School
Eligible?
Any Secondary School from the provinces and territories of Canada
is eligible to apply for the Clarica Scholars Program.
How do
I know if my project is suitable?
The limit is your imagination. Your project idea should address
a learning problem that can be enhanced through the use of technology.
Projects showing applicability to other classes or school situations
are encouraged. A statement of the intended outcomes and required
resources should be listed.
Can schools
submit more than one project?
Yes, schools can submit more than one project and/or submit
more than one team. It is also suggested that each school list
alternative team members on their application forms.
Are travel
expenses and student honorariums covered?
Yes, Travel expenses will be covered and participating students
will receive an honorarium when they return to school in the Fall.
Are schools
eligible to return in year two of the program?
Schools can submit more than one project and can apply again in
the second year if the project is chosen. It is recommended that
new team members be chosen to attend.
How are
teams selected?
Team will be selected by each of the granting institutions, Acadia
University and University of Waterloo. The project proposal, technical
skill level, and letters of support from school administration
will all be considered in the selection process.
Can more
than one team participate from one province or territory?
Yes, 10 teams will be chosen for each week's program from
across Canada and we expect a wide geographic distribution - but
there may well be more than one team participating from any one
area.
