Acadia
University Program - Overview.
Two one-week
professional development programs will be held at Acadia in the
summer of 2001 and 2002. Program weeks for 2001 will be July 30-August
3 and August 13-17.
During each
of the two weeks, ten teams of four (two teachers and two students
from a school) will be selected from across Canada, based on the
submission of a project idea in any area of study.
Teams will
be selected based on their submission of a project idea that uses
some aspect of technology to address an instructional challenge
or accomplish a learning objective. This project will provide
a focus for the team's work at the training week. Please describe
for us the challenge or objective that your team would like to
address and the project idea and where it fits in your curriculum.
Instructional
challenges or learning objectives can be general or specific and
projects may incorporate several important objectives, for example,
the project could aim to:
- increase
student involvement with... community, school leadership, athletics
- teach students
difficult concepts of... science, language, music
- provide
increased opportunities for study of materials or assessment
of student learning
- connect
students with... experts in the business community, students
from other countries, government agencies
