Estimating specimen size
In order to determine the size of a specimen through the microscope, you need to know three things:
- how large the specimen is in terms of divisions of the ocular micrometer
- at what magnification the specimen is being observed
- how large one division of the ocular micrometer is at that particular magnification.
Once you know these, you simply multiply #1 by #3 for an estimate of the size of the specimen.
